Si è conclusa da pochi giorni la seconda missione in Cambogia del 2025 e già stiamo pianificando la prossima missione. / The second mission to Cambodia in 2025 ended a few days ago, and we are already planning the next one.
Come usuale sono state due settimane intense e ricchissime di emozioni. I nostri bambini, come sempre, sono stati eccezionali nel rendere speciale il tempo passato con loro. / As usual, it was an intense two weeks full of emotions. Our children, as always, were exceptional in making the time spent with them special.
Da questa missione mi porto a casa ancora tanta motivazione in più per andare avanti nel nostro progetto, nonostante tutte le fatiche e le difficoltà, che certo non mancano anche in questo tipo di attività. / This mission has given me even more motivation to continue with our project, despite all the hard work and difficulties that are certainly not lacking also in this type of activity.
Al mio 14° viaggio in Cambogia e 16° viaggio in Sud Est Asiatico cresce sempre la mia sete di conoscenza e la voglia di scoprire sempre di più di queste terre lontane e così affascinanti, di questi popoli orientali così ospitali e sempre sorridenti, nonostante tutte le difficoltà e contraddizioni che caratterizzano i loro Paesi. / On my 14th trip to Cambodia and 16th trip to Southeast Asia, my thirst for knowledge and desire to discover more and more about these distant and fascinating lands continues to grow, as does my admiration for these Eastern peoples who are so hospitable and always smiling, despite all the difficulties and contradictions that characterize their countries.
Finora ho visto parte della Cambogia, un po’ di Thailandia e appena appoggiato un piede in territorio vietnamita. Una ragione in più per alimentare il desiderio di scoprire sempre di più di questi Paesi e di quelli circostanti. Oltre al Vietnam, Laos e Indonesia potrebbero essere mete nel futuro. / So far, I have seen part of Cambodia, a little bit of Thailand, and just set foot in Vietnam. This is one more reason to fuel my desire to discover more and more of these countries and those around them. In addition to Vietnam, Laos and Indonesia could be destinations in the future.

La prima settimana di questa missione, caratterizzata anche da piogge torrenziali che hanno reso più complicati i nostri spostamenti nelle campagne di Kep, è stata dedicata alle visite alle case dei nostri bambini. Abbiamo visitato, con le fide Theara e Kimhian, tutte le case dei bambini inseriti nel progetto Sostegno a Distanza dall’inizio del 2025. / The first week of this mission, which was also marked by torrential rains that made our travels in the Kep countryside more difficult, was dedicated to visiting the homes of our children. Fine settimana di relax nell’isola di Koh Rong, con andata in bus da Kampot a Sihanoukville, causa mare agitato e ritorno il lunedì in barca direttamente da Koh Rong a Kampot. / A relaxing weekend on Koh Rong Island, traveling by bus from Kampot to Sihanoukville due to rough seas and returning on Monday by boat directly from Koh Rong to Kampot.
Da martedì 25 Novembre seconda settimana di missione dedicata alle attività al Centro Diurno, con gli incontri con i genitori e le distribuzioni di materiale ai bambini. Abbiamo anche fatto un passaggio al Sonja Kill hospital per accompagnare 3 dei nostri bambini/ragazzi per visite mediche e avvio di terapie, in particolare di tipo fisiatrico e fisioterapico per la nostra piccola e adoratissima Sreypeo. / From Tuesday, November 25, the second week of the mission was dedicated to activities at the Day Center, with meetings with parents and the distribution of materials to children. We also stopped by Sonja Kill Hospital to accompany three of our children/young people for medical examinations and the start of therapy, in particular physiatric and physiotherapy for our little and beloved Sreypeo.
E poi, come usuale l’ultimo giorno, prima del rientro a Phnom Penh, pranzo a base di Khmer Curry con tutti i bambini che possono partecipare, quest’anno oltre 110 sul totale di circa 200. / And then, as usual on the last day, before returning to Phnom Penh, lunch based on Khmer Curry with all the children who can participate, this year over 110 out of a total of about 200.
Gli abbracci e i saluti non sono certo mancati. Così come la tradizionale torta in faccia al sottoscritto. Una tradizione che si consolida di anno in anno e che diventa appuntamento irrinunciabile per tutti i bambini, ma in particolare i più piccoli come Kunthea e Sreymean. / There was no shortage of hugs and greetings. Nor was there any shortage of the traditional cake in my face. This tradition grows stronger every year and has become an unmissable event for all the children, but especially for the youngest ones like Kunthea and Sreymean.
Questo viaggio è stato il primo con passaggio nel nuovo aeroporto di Phnom Penh, aperto a settembre 2025, una struttura avveniristica che dovrebbe aprire le porte della Cambogia a milioni di visitatori. E speriamo che sia davvero così perché il Paese ne avrebbe davvero bisogno. Rispetto ai periodi vicini al tempo del Covid sicuramente il flusso turistico si è ripreso, ma ancora tanto potrebbe essere fatto. / This trip was the first to pass through the new Phnom Penh airport, which opened in September 2025. It is a futuristic structure that should open Cambodia’s doors to millions of visitors. And we hope that this will indeed be the case, because the country really needs it. Compared to the period around the time of Covid, tourist numbers have certainly recovered, but there is still much that could be done.
Le tensioni di confine con la Thailandia e le guerre commerciali che ne sono conseguite, sicuramente non portano effetti positivi né per l’uno né per l’altro Paese, ma quella che ne soffre di più, a causa di una struttura economica meno avanzata, è di sicuro la Cambogia. C’è quindi da augurarsi che la situazione si normalizzi presto e gli interscambi economici e culturali tra i due Paesi vicini riprendano più vigorosi. / The border tensions with Thailand and the resulting trade wars are certainly not beneficial to either country, but Cambodia is undoubtedly suffering the most due to its less advanced economic structure. We can only hope that the situation will soon return to normal and that economic and cultural exchanges between the two neighboring countries will resume with renewed vigor.
E su queste considerazioni si chiude Cambodia or bust edizione Novembre 2025. L’appuntamento è per il 2026, auspicabilmente già nella prima parte dell’anno nel mese di Marzo. Chi volesse aderire e partecipare alla prossima missione tenga in considerazione il periodo tra la fine di Febbraio e la metà di Marzo. Ma già a Gennaio sarà necessario muoversi per la prenotazione dei voli. / And with these considerations, Cambodia or Bust November 2025 edition comes to a close.
