07/08/2024 Completate le nuove abitazioni per le due famiglie che avevano visto la propria casa spazzata via dal tornado del 7 Maggio 2024 / New housing completed for the two families who had seen their homes wiped out by the May 7, 2024 tornado

Dopo i momenti di sconforto dovuti al tornado che nei primi giorni di Maggio ha colpito il nostro villaggio, danneggiando una ventina di case e distruggendone completamente due, arrivano notizie positive dalla Cambogia. / After the moments of discouragement due to the tornado that hit our village in early May, damaging about 20 houses and completely destroying two, positive news come from Cambodia.

La raccolta fondi avviata praticamente spontaneamente dopo la notizia di quello che era successo, ci ha consentito di inviare in Cambogia 2,350 usd per la costruzione di una nuova casa per la famiglia della nostra piccola Sreyfong, bimba già inserita nel nostro progetto SAD al momento dell’evento. Con questa somma è stato possibile in tempi rapidi costruire una casetta essenziale ma ci auguriamo sufficientemente confortevole per la famiglia. / The Fundraising that started virtually spontaneously after the news of what had happened, allowed us to send 2,350 usd to Cambodia for the construction of a new house for the family of our little Sreyfong, a child already included in our DAP project at the time of the event. With this sum it was possible in a short time to build a basic but hopefully sufficiently comfortable little house for the family.

Per certo possiamo dire che la nuova costruzione ha evitato alla famiglia di finire con la casa invasa dall’acqua che ha coperto gran parte del territorio del villaggio a causa delle forti piogge delle scorse settimane. / For certain, we can say that the new construction has prevented the family from ending up with their house overrun by water that has covered much of the village area due to heavy rains in recent weeks.

Il sorriso di Sreyfong e dei suoi genitori è testimonianza di quanto la restituzione di una casa alla famiglia abbia contribuito a riportare loro serenità. / The smiles of Sreyfong and his parents are testimony to how much the return of a home to the family has helped restore their serenity.

Per quanto riguarda la seconda famiglia che ha avuto la casa completamente distrutta, l’intervento è stato effettuato, da quello che sappiamo, in parte dalle autorità locali e in parte da un’altra ONG che opera sul territorio. / As for the second family whose house was completely destroyed, the intervention was carried out, from what we know, partly by the local authorities and partly by another NGO working in the area.

Per questa seconda famiglia il nostro intervento è stato quello di donare beni di conforto e soprattutto di inserire la piccola Sok nel nostro programma SAD, trovando peraltro in tempi rapidissimi una sponsor che ha voluto prenderla in sostegno a distanza. Anche per il fratello maggiore, Vattanak, sono state effettuate donazioni nell’ambito della campagna dei regali per il Khmer New Year. / For this second family, our intervention was to donate comfort goods and especially to place little Sok in our DAP program, moreover, finding very quickly a sponsor who was willing to take her in distant support. Donations were also made for her older brother, Vattanak, as part of the Khmer New Year gift campaign.

Anche qui i sorrisi di Sok testimoniano la riacquistata serenità, dopo i brutti momenti passati e dopo aver dovuto dormire per quasi due mesi sotto una tenda di fortuna. / Here, too, Sok’s smiles testify to her regained serenity after the bad times she has had and after having to sleep for nearly two months under a makeshift tent.
